BIS Names Bénédicte Noella Nolens as Head of Innovation Hub HK

The (BIS) announced this Friday that it has appointed Bénédicte Noella Nolens as the head of the BIS Innovation Hub Centre in Hong Kong SAR.
Nolens will assume the new role on the 1st of July 2020, with her position to last for three years, the statement from the BIS said. During her career, which spans for more than two decades across financial services, she has held positions in both the public and private sectors.

Throughout her career, Nolens has had a particular focus on fintech, innovation and regulation. Namely, she worked at the Hong Kong . In this role, she was involved in global regulatory issues.
During her time with the regulator, she was connected with the International Organization of Securities Commissions, the Financial Stability Board, the BIS and the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures.
Commenting on the appointment, Benoît Cœuré, Head of the Innovation Hub said in the statement: “I am delighted with Bénédicte’s appointment. Her deep knowledge and experience in fintech and financial regulation will significantly strengthen the Hub’s mission to ensure that innovation is a positive force in the global financial system.”
The Innovation Hub of the BIS was created in 2019. The purpose of the entity is to both identify and develop insights into trends in technology that affects central banking. Furthermore, it develops public goods in the technology space to improve the functioning of the global financial system.

The appointment of Nolens comes just days after the BIS announced that it had recruited Joachim Nagel as Deputy Head of the Banking Department for a term lasting five years, as .
The BIS is a hub for central banks, financial regulators and supervisory authorities. Nagel’s five-year term commences on the 1st of November, succeeding Jean-François Rigaudy, who retires from the Bank on the 31st of August, after more than 31 years with the BIS.
