Financial services company IG has hired Ian Leung as a Senior Adviser North America in its Chicago office last month, according to market sources.
IG was founded in 1974 as one of the world’s first spread betting firms. It now provides CFDs and spread betting and execution-only share dealing service in the UK, Austria and the Netherlands.
The company’s platforms and apps offer access to over 17,000 financial markets, including indices, shares, FX, and commodities.
Prior to moving to IG, Leung was Global Head of Cumberland, a company owned by Chicago headquartered prop trading company DRW that specialises in Crypto trading .
In a string of executive exits, Leung left the firm in June 2019 and was replaced by Chris Zuehlke.
His exit followed the departure of Cumberland’s former COO Bobby Cho, who became Partner at prop firm CMS in October last year.
Before that, Leung served as Global Head of FX Options at DRW Trading Group in Chicago for six years.
Chicago-based DRW is a diversified prop trading firm that combines technology, research and risk management to capture trading and investment opportunities globally.
Long career
Leung’s career began at UBS Warburg in 1997, where he spent six years as an FX Options Trader, before joining Bank of America as a Principal.
After four years at Bank of America, he became a Founding Member at Clarity Investments and an FX OTC Options Trader at Infinium Capital Managent.
In 2019, he also was a Board Member at ErisX, a financial services firm offering individuals and institutions a platform to access digital asset spot and futures markets.
