Derivatives announced the appointment of a new global head of data services this Friday.
Trey Berre, who has been with group for almost a decade, will take up the new role with immediate effect.
Based in Chicago, Berre will be responsible for overseeing CME Group’s portfolio of historical, real-time and derived data products and services.
Alongside managing existing solutions, Berre will also have to work on new data analytics and distribution products.
“Clients continue to look to CME Group for traditional and alternative data sets to inform their trading strategies around the world,” said CME Group president Bryan Durkin.
“Trey’s extensive operational knowledge will be a tremendous asset to both deliver value to our clients and further position our data services business for long-term growth.”
From defence lawyer to data handler
In the short term, the new data services head is likely to have his hands full with integrating products from NEX,, into the wider group’s set of solutions.
Prior to taking up his new role, Berre was global head of derived data licensing and partner services – a position he held for a year and a half.
Berre got his start at CME Group back in 2010. Having spent several years as a civil defence attorney, he joined the exchange group as a senior enforcement counsel.
After a couple of years in that role, he moved up the ranks to become chief aide to CME Group’s chief operating officer.
He then moved up again to become director of operations, working alongside the firm’s chief commercial officer.
