BNP Paribas AM Hires Three Senior Quant Analysts

The of BNP Paribas, BNP Paribas Asset Management, announced this Tuesday that it has appointed three senior quantitative analysts to its Quant Research Group, referred to as QRG.
The new members to the division are Boris Afanasiev, Benoît Bellone and Frédéric Abergel. Together, they will work in the QRG Research Lab and report to the Co-Heads of QRG, Thomas Heckel and François Soupé.

Afanasiev, Bellone and Abergel join a team of about 30 quantitive investment experts in BNP Paribas’ asset management unit. The QRG is part of the company’s Products and Strategic Marketing division, which is led by Pierre Moulin.
Afanasiev, who joins from StatQuant Consulting where he was Managing Director, is based in London. Bellone and Abergel, however, are based in Paris. The three new additions will perform strategic research across all asset classes.

Before he was a MD at StatQuant Consulting, Afanasiev was the CIO and Founding Partner of Asset Algo Advisory. During his career, he has gained experience in researching systematic futures market trading. Prior to Asset Algo Advisory, he was a senior quantitative researcher at AQR Capital Management and Head of Commodities research at Winton Capital Management.
Bellone, on the other hand, joined BNP Paribas from where he was the Head of Multi-Asset Research. Earlier in his career, he was an economist at the OECD and the French Ministry of Finance.
Lastly, Abergel comes to BNP Paribas from CentraleSupélec, where he was most recently the Director of the Chair of Quantitative Finance. Here he spent 11 years researching electronic markets and high-frequency finance. He has also held positions at , CAI Cheuvreux and BNP Paribas.
