UBS, a and financial services company, will be reopening the doors to its headquarters and branch at Bahnhofstrasse 45 in Zurich on December 3, 2018. For the past three years, the more than 100-year-old building has been closed for renovations.
According to the statement released by UBS today, the refurbished building is now not only modern but designed sustainably. Clients and visitors of the bank can now see the ground floor, which is open to the public, with the rest of the building set to be open next Monday.
Since it was built in 1917, the firm’s headquarters has undergone numerous refurbishments. Now the building has been completely redone, with the concept for the new layout developed by the general planner team at EM2N Architekten AG.
Commenting on the redesign, Axel A. Weber, Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS Group AG said: ”we are proud of our historically important building, which not only honors its long history, but is now well prepared for the demands of the future. Our headquarters represent UBS and its values as the leading global bank with Swiss roots. After the three-year renovation phase, we are now delighted that the building is about to reopen its doors.”
The main changes to UBS headquarters
So what are the main changes to the headquarters of the ? Whilst the outside of the building remains much the same, the inside has been completely redone. Namely, the entrance area to Bahnhofstrasse is “much wider”.
The interior is brighter and “more friendly” as the bank describes it, with a modern design complimented with traditional features. On the ground floor, there is a new 24-hour ATM, which will be particularly handy for residents of Zurich.
