Barclays, a , announced on Tuesday that it has added the former head of electronic trading engineering at , Justin Brickwood to its team. At the bank, Brickwood will be Managing Director, Head of Markets Innovation.
Based in London, Brickwood will join the firm in September. According to the statement, he will report to John Stecher, Chief Innovation Officer for Barclays. In his role, which is newly created, he will be responsible for increasing the efficiency of Barclays’ internal platforms.
Brickwood will also drive client-focused innovation. This will be across Markets’ electronic offerings. To help him achieve this goal, he will work with his fellow colleagues across the Markets and Technology departments. Together, they will also work towards enhancing the client offering and implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning to the bank’s procedures.

Commenting on the appointment of Brickwood, Al-Khudairi said: “Justin’s extensive experience and expertise will be instrumental as we evolve the Markets business for future success and develop Barclays’ electronic capabilities to significantly enhance our client offering.”

At Goldman, Justin demonstrated a proven track record of delivering innovative solutions which resulted in an uptick in commercial results, the statement said. Between 1990 to 1994 Brickwood studied at the University of Edinburgh. In 1994 he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering, majoring in Computer Science and Electronics.
