A former radio presenter has joined Capital.com, , as its Chief Market Strategist. David Jones, who has gained a sizeable following as a presenter on the BBC’s Wake Up To Money program, will work in the Cyprus-based firm’s London office.

Jones will be a familiar face to many in the FX industry. He started his career with Shares Magazine in the early 2000s covering FX, contract-for-differences (CFDs) and spread betting.

After spending two years as a journalist, Jones moved on to work for derivatives dealer CMC Markets. There he worked as Chief Market Strategist and was responsible for client education, market commentary, and public relations.

From CMC to BBC

Jones left CMC Markets in 2007 to join the IG Group, an online retail broker. Working in the Chief Market Strategist position, he assumed a similar role to the one he held at CMC Markets, providing traders with educational material and market commentary.

His time with IG came to an end in 2013, and in 2014 Jones returned, as a freelance writer, to Shares Magazine. After over a decade in the industry, he was able to write technical pieces analyzing the FX market for the magazine.

In 2015, Jones took up a new role as a BBC radio presenter. He hosted the markets segment of the Wake Up To Money program which continues to run every day from 05:15 am to 06:00 am UK time.

Having left his radio-slot in late 2017, Jones joins Capital.com just over a year after the firm . The firm, which was founded in 2016, also has a strong focus on client education – something Jones’ prior experience will likely be helpful in developing.
