Yahoo Finance Adopts New Crypto Functionality into its Platform

2017 is the year of crypto and Yahoo is joining the party with its broadest measures to date. The group is integrating a number of key features to its Finance portal and platforms, bolstering its available financial data package for users.

The move largely mirrors the of cryptocurrencies across virtually all financial venues, with the retail space rapidly warming to digital currencies. With the trader appetite for cryptocurrencies at an all-time high, Yahoo Finance will now offer the ability to track a basket of cryptos on its platform.

Yahoo Finance has historically been one of most comprehensive financial portals in terms of equities and other assets, specifically for US and North American traders. With abundant free data, investors have routinely made use of such information for their private investing. Starting today however, that offering has expanded rapidly to include over 100 sovereign cryptocurrency pages.

The new focus will see not just the largest cap cryptos like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin, but also Ripple, Dash, and most others. The platform will now support quote pages, profile information, historical data, coins outstanding, market cap, and data on currency pairs, in partnership with CryptoCompare.

Furthermore, Yahoo Finance has also unveiled a strategic partnership with CoinDesk, adding to its growing content stream. The augmented service will be instrumental in providing the latest news and information for up to 100 different cryptocurrencies.

Much like other assets such as equities or exchange-traded-funds (ETFs), users will also be able to track their respective cryptocurrency positions while also creating a cohesive Yahoo Finance portfolio using these instruments.

New compatibility with Coinbase

Retail traders will also be able to take advantage of Yahoo Finance’s integration of cryptos in tandem with Coinbase. In particular, users will be able to directly link to their Coinbase accounts using Yahoo’s portal – this functionality is supported on both iOS and Android all on the Yahoo Finance app.
