Lutz Diederichs Joins BNP Paribas as German Group Head, Chairman

BNP Paribas has announced its newest senior appointment of the new year in its Group Management Board in Germany, tapping Lutz Diederichs as its Chairman and also Group Head for the lender in Germany, according to a company statement.

Mr. Diederichs steps into both roles starting in March 2017. He will effectively assume the responsibilities of both positions. In this capacity, he will be reporting to Philippe Bordenave, BNP Paribas’ Chief Operating Officer (COO). His appointment will be tendered following a transition and succession of Camille Fohl who has played an instrumental role for the lender since 2013.

In March 2017, Fohl is slated to take up a role in Paris as advisor to the BNP Paribas Group Executive Committee. As a replacement, Mr. Diederichs will be providing advice and consulting on the development of business activities of the lender across Europe.

Mr. Diederichs joined BNP Paribas back on January 1 from HypoVereinsbank, having worked in a number of different roles spanning over two and a half decades. Since 2009 he has also been a member of the board of the HypoVereinsbank – UniCredit Munich.
