Ian Macfarlane Parts Ways with ANZ Group

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) today announced that its Non-Executive Director and former New Zealand Reserve Bank governor, Ian Macfarlane, will retire at the conclusion of the 2016 Annual General Meeting, ending a ten-year tenure with the ANZ.

Mr Macfarlane was made a director back in 2007 following his retirement from the RBA governorship after a 10-year stint. He replaced bank’s long-serving Rod Deane, who quit after 12 years on the ANZ’s board.

David Gonski, Chairman of the ANZ Board, commented: “Ian has served as a Non-Executive Director with great distinction since he joined the Board in February 2007. This included very ably chairing the Board Risk Committee over a period of great regulatory change and increased focus. Ian has given significant service to ANZ and we thank him for his contribution.”
