Credit Suisse Taps Burkhard Varnholt as its Chief Investment Officer

Credit Suisse Group AG has announced its latest senior level appointment, promoting Burkhard Varnholt as its newest Chief Investment Officer (CIO), succeeding Anja Hochberg, Finance Magnates has learned.

Mr. Varnholt will serve as the CIO of its Credit Suisse’s Swiss unit and his appointment will begin only on January 1, 2017. He will be assuming the mantle of responsibility for its investment capabilities across the International Wealth Division.

Previously, he was brought in to serve Credit Suisse as its Deputy Global Chief Investment Officer in Investment Solutions & Products (IS&P). Mr. Varnholt will be based out of Zurich and report to Michael Strobaek, Credit Suisse’s Global CIO and Head of Investment Solutions & Products.

Prior to Credit Suisse, Mr. Varnholt worked at Julius Bär, having served as its Chief Investment Officer. Additional roles include similar positions at Bank Sarasin, part of a two decade career in the financial services industry.
