Breaking: Francois Nembrini Joins the Buy Side of Foreign Exchange

Long time industry veteran Francois Nembrini is taking on a new role in the buy side of the foreign exchange industry. Finance Magnates has learned that he has joined alternative asset management company focused on foreign exchange, QUANTIC AM, becoming the company’s Global Head of Sales and Liquidity Management.

The move follows a stint at London Capital Group, where Francois served as Head of Institutional Sales and Trading. QUANTIC Asset Management specializes in quantitative and macro strategies.

The new role of Francois will be to improve QUANTIC’s market access and leverage the asset manager’s balance sheet to launch prime execution services for mid-tier institutions. In addition, Mr Nembrini will lead an effort of launching an incubation division looking to do allocations to emerging asset managers.

He joins the buy side of the foreign exchange market after an extensive career in the sell side, where he spent over 12 years at one of the industry’s leaders, FXCM. Mr Nembrini served as head of the institutional sales unit of London Capital Group until leaving the company last year after deciding to focus on the retail side of the business.

During his twelve years at FXCM, Mr Nembrini reached the position of head of the company’s institutional arm FXCM Pro. He also co-founded social trading portal TopTradr, which is available on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play.

According to Mr. Nembrini in an exclusive statement to Finance Magnates on the new role: “In a crowded brokerage environment with rising regulatory requirements and shrinking margins, I am delighted to join an institution focused on the asset management side of the business. Quantic has done a great job selling FX as an alternative investment to beat the low interest environment we have faced for many years now in developed countries. As a result, Quantic now sits on a very healthy balance sheet.”

“Credit comes at a premium in today’s world so a strong balance sheet is key to getting direct interbank market access. The idea is for me to improve Quantic’s current market access by installing top of the line technology used by my interbank, central bank & hedge fund clients. This infrastructure will then be used to help mid tier institutions access interbank like aggregators and smart order routing strategies to reduce execution costs. Hopefully my brokerage experience managing ‘tough flow’ customers will be helpful in delivering a great solution to the market,” he added.
