JPMorgan Promotes Patrick Thomson to Head of Institutional Clients – APAC

JPMorgan Asset Management has promoted Patrick Thomson to the role of Head of Institutional Clients – Australia-Pacific (APAC) and Middle East & North Africa (MENA), according to information made public on his LinkedIn profile.

In his new role as the Head of Institutional Clients, Mr. Thomson will continue to report to George Catch, JPMorgan’s Chief Executive of Investment Management for Global Clients. Despite the elevation, he will also continue to act as the Global Head of Sovereign Clients, a position he has held since August 2010 – he will be based out of London.

Mr. Thomson rejoined JPMorgan in 2010 after a lengthy stint at Ivy Asset Management for nearly six years. In this capacity he worked as its Managing Director and Global Head of Client Development, dating back to 2005. Prior to this, he worked at JPMorgan for a decade, focusing on client sovereigns with the lender since his arrival back in 1995.

JPMorgan recently made headlines desk based in London. The appointment marked a shift in his career from a portfolio management position into a sales role back in July. Mr. O’Connor had originally left the hedge fund, MKP Capital, where he worked as an associate portfolio manager.
