Data Issues with the FCA’s Financial Services Register (Updated)

The UK’s financial watchdog, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), sent out an email this morning to notify stakeholders that its newly launched Financial Services Register was experiencing data issues and had been taken offline.

The Financial Services Register was launched just two days ago (7 September), with the goal of making it easier to find information on firms, individuals and other bodies that are, or have been, regulated by either the FCA and/or the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority.

However, a spokeswoman for the FCA told Finance Magnates that it had experienced problems with data being held on the register. Whether it was a technical glitch or something more malicious, she would not elaborate.

Accordingly, the website remained down while they looked into the issue.

The site is now up and running again.
