Euro Slips Below 1.1400 Against US Dollar

Euro is slipping today, losing ground after a rally earlier in the session. This happened toward the end of last week as well. After a strong run, the 19-nation currency is starting to show signs of weakness.

Euro is losing ground to its major counterparts right now, even though the 19-nation currency was mostly higher earlier in the session. Last week, the euro ended higher — even though the currency was lower on the day Friday.

Today, the euro got a boost, but now the currency is pulling back, losing its gains and falling lower. At one point, EUR/USD slipped below the 1.1400 mark, although the euro is back above that level.

There isn’t much in the way of data to go off of right now. No major economic releases are scheduled for today or tomorrow. Later in the week, though, it will be back to concerns about Greece, and trying to work out that mess. The euro’s performance in the next week or so is likely to depend heavily on what happens in Greece.

At 10:38 GMT EUR/USD is down to 1.1404 from the open at 1.1448. EUR/GBP is a little higher, eking out a gain to 0.7274 from the open a t0.7272. EUR/JPY is down, falling to 136.49 from the open at 136.55.
