The beta 2.0 version of OpenBazaar, the p2p marketplace, has been released and is available on .
The latest version fixes multiple bugs, adds several new features and comes with a more streamlined codebase.
Since the one month ago, community participation has increased dramatically. Out of the 700 issues reported since testing began in April, 400 were reported last month, from 40 different contributors. 600 stars were passed on GitHub.
In an from lead developer Brian Hoffman, the team will move away from targeting a full release by the end of this year, instead offering new betas each month until they “feel the code is worthy of being called a full release.” He notes the following:
“To build a world-class, production ready piece of software that passes security audits and can claim features like censorship-resistance, resilience, and pseudo-anonymity we must have considerable contributions in terms of people, finances and interest.”
The development team has indeed added contributors. As such, they have had to reshape their contribution methodology with the long-term goal of more secure and scalable code.
