A reported bug on the Bitfinex bitcoin exchange apparently lets you view the account balances of other users. So reported a , whose claims were echoed by other users.
The bug seems to only occur when clicking on “Order Book” without navigating to any other tab. At the time of this writing, DC Magnates was not successful in replicating the issue.
What’s more is that following this process may expose your account to other users. The commenter says that he has also heard reports of “full access to accounts through this bug”, but these have yet to be substantiated.
Commenters are recommending that users take precautionary measures, such as enabling 2-factor authentication (2FA).
A representative from Bitfinex, commenting on the , confirmed the issue but said that no account should be compromised because of it. He added that the cache displaying the information has been deactivated, so the issue should not be encountered moving forward.
