Prior to the addition, only Bitcoin and Dogecoin were supported. While Litecoin is usually the next in line in the majority of such venues, Expresscoin has taken a bit of a different route. , co-founder and CMO Joe Hsieh explained that Dogecoin was the perfect experiment for altcoins because of its active community.
Voting is still ongoing for future coins. Candidates are diverse, from highly exotic coins (Myriadcoin) to those used for decentralized exchange (Ripple, Counterparty, Mastercoin) and second generation digital currencies (Nxt).
Expresscoin reports close to 20,000 “active paying customers” and to have transacted $15 million in their first year.
