PCI European Security Standards Council to meet in Nice

The annual PCI SSC meeting is scheduled to take place next week in Nice, France, where stakeholders in the payment card industry  will come together to give feedback and suggestions regarding drafts of the upcoming  release of PCI DSS version 3.

Sponsored by Ground Labs, a software company for cardholder data PCI compliance, participants will also be able to mingle to achieve the mutual sharing of best practices for protecting cardholder data.

“With the release of v3.0 of the PCI DSS, industry stakeholders once again come together to support the PCI council’s efforts in publishing and maintaining a common set of security standards for all to follow,” said Mohamed Zouine, EMEA Director of Corporate Development for Ground Labs. “As cardholder data compromises continue to make news headlines, it is crucial that we as an industry combine our collective efforts toward the goal of keeping cardholder data safe.”

As reported in a , some changes that we can expect from version 3 of the standards may reflect a focus on flexibility, to make compliance accessible and easier to implement, better guidance and education, in general and regarding passwords, as well as, a drive for security to be seen as the collective responsibility of all e-commerce participants.
