Bitcoin ATM arrives in Amsterdam

DC Magnates has reported on the increasing number of Bitcoin ATMs to have popped up at a variety of locations across the world, from Canada to to to . Now Holland can boast of another ATM (after the one in the Hague), for their capital city, Amsterdam.

Manufactured by BTC-O-MATIC, the ATM has been installed in the “Courtyard of Wise” coffee shop, just a brief walk from the “Amsterdaam Centraal” railway station. It’s not functional right now however, but should be up and running this Wednesday, 30th of April, when there will be a local Bitcoin Meetup.

BTC-O-MATIC actually manufacture four types of ATMs, ranging from $4000 to $7500 each, namely (in order of cost), MiniFly, Flyex, DualFly and FlyMaster. The one installed in the coffee shop is a DualFly. This particular ATM lets you swap bitcoins for cash, but not vice versa. In fact all of them work like this, except for FlyMaster, which does two-way operations.

Indeed, Amsterdam shall be host to the in mid May at the Mövenpick Hotel, which is very close to the Courtyard of Wise, so things are gearing up nicely for the Dutch capital.
