Card firm has partnered with Japanese E-money and online payment firm , and Japanese financial services company Credit Saison to offer a WebMoney branded prepaid MasterCard.
The card dubbed WebMoneyCard will link directly with a user’s WebMoney account for funds, similarly to how links to its user accounts. The card is supported at any of the 38.1 million MasterCard accepting locations around the globe.
Credit Saison will be responsible for card issuance, management of MasterCard transaction data, and management of merchant accounts under a MasterCard license owned by the financial services company.
In addition to the prepaid card, WebMoney also released a mobile application called WebMoney Card Case. The app will give users the ability to view their card balance and load funds to their account.
While alternative payment methods gain traction, more online money services like WebMoney, Google Wallet, and Payoneer seem to offer prepaid cards to help ease the transition into the digital money age.
