FXCM is saying farewell to another longtime executive, Jared Velez, who has parted ways with the forex trading group, ending a nearly 8-year stint with the company, according to a recent regulator filing.
Mr. Velez has stepped down from FXCM to join Enstar Group as its new Legal Counsel and VP of Global Subsidiaries & Governance.
Jared has been at FXCM since 2010, originally joining as a legal intern, and has since worked out of the group’s offices in New York, USA and London, UK.
He served most recently as Senior Associate Counsel and Company Secretary. In this capacity Mr. Velez was responsible for all European corporate, commercial, intellectual property and financial services regulatory matters and special projects. Prior to that, he completed a 4 year international secondment with FXCM UK, the largest operating subsidiary of the FXCM group.
In January 2015, Mr. Velez returned to the group’s headquarters in New York to expand practice remit and to assume increased responsibility in the management of the global legal team.
Prior to FXCM, Mr. Velez held several legal roles for various companies, including Legal Extern at Holland & Knight LLP and Law Clerk with NameKatz, Marshall & Banks, LLP.
Mr. Velez is a graduate of Pasco-Hernando State College and also holds a BA in Liberal Arts and Political Science from Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida, Atlantic University. He also obtained a doctorate of law from American University Washington College of Law.
