IG Group is parting ways with , who retires as a non-executive director and chairman of the audit committee.
Newman, who has originally joined IG back in 2013, will stay on through the end of the year. He steps down on December 30, 2020 and will be replaced Andrew Didham who will assume the responsibilities as chair of the audit committee.
A qualified chartered accountant, Jim spent four years as finance director at Resolution plc prior to joining the UK spread better. He also spent ten years at Aviva’s UK life insurance business.
With a raft of experience in the financial services industry and in particular, serving at multiple senior at Rothschild group for 16 years, Andrew Didham is taking an expanded role at IG Group. From 2017 to 2019, he also served as non-executive director and chairman of the Audit and Risk Committees of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC. Further, he was previously a partner of KPMG from 1990 to 1997.
Commenting on the changes, Company Chairman Mike McTighe said: “I’d like to thank Jim for his significant contribution to the Board since his appointment in October 2013 and for fulfilling the role of Chairman of the Audit Committee since October 2014 which he has done with considerable dedication, skill and professionalism. We wish him every success for the future. I’d also like to welcome Andrew to his new role as Chair of the Audit Committee.”
IG reshuffles non-executive management
Britain’s biggest player in the spread betting sector, with a 40 percent share of the market, has undergone over the last few months. Most recently, the firm has promoted its long-serving executive, Nazli Visne to take on the role of its operations head in the Netherlands.
IG also appointed the third non-executive director to its board this year, namely since the arrival of Chairman Mike McTighe in February.
Following the arrival of Helen Stevenson in March and Rakesh Bhasin in July, the FCA-regulated broker has lured Wu Gang who brings three decades of expertise and knowledge of both European and more especially Asia markets.
Earlier in March, appointed Helen Stevenson as a Non-Executive Director who has been made a member of IG Group’s Remuneration Committee. This move was followed by the appointment of Rakesh Bhasin in an analogous role, and she was also added as a member of the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee.
