The (MOEX) announced this Monday that as of the 1st of June 2020, Andrey Burilov has become the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Russian exchange operator.
Furthermore, once his candidacy is approved by the Supervisory Board, it is expected that Burilov will be appointed as a member of the Moscow Exchange Executive Board, the company said today.
Commenting on the appointment, Yury Denisov, Chief Executive Officer of Moscow Exchange, said in the statement: “Reliable and advanced IT infrastructure is the cornerstone of our future success.
“We are pleased to welcome a high-caliber professional to our team with great expertise in software development, building complex IT systems and leading large IT teams, as well as deep knowledge of capital markets and the financial services industry.”
Burilov joins MOEX from SMP Bank
Prior to joining the Moscow Exchange, Burilov served as vice president and IT director at SMP Bank, a bank operating in Russia since 2001. Before this, from October 2013 until June of 2018, he was department director and a member of the Executive Board at Sberbank Technologies.
Before this, Burilov spent just under eight years with Renaissance Capital, an emerging and frontier markets-focused investment bank. Most recently, he was the Deputy Head of IT, a role he held for six months.
During his time with Renaissance Capital, Burilov was also the Head of R&D for slightly more than five years, as well as the Head of IT for Operations & Compliance for two years.
According to the statement, Burilov started off his professional IT career with , where he was employed for four years and worked as a Developer, Architect and Manager since he joined in 2001. During his time with the German lender, he assisted with creating, developing and maintaining an equity trading platform.
Burilov graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University’s Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics.
