HKEX Adds Susan Chow to its Board of Directors

The (HKEX) announced this Friday that it has added the Government’s appointment of Susan Chow to its Board of Directors, as well as the reappointment of Laura M Cha and Benjamin Hung.
According to the statement released by the Hong Kong exchange, the directors will each serve two-year terms, which will commence at the conclusion of HKEX’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in 2020, and will end at the conclusion of the AGM in 2022.

Commenting on the appointment, HKEX Chairman Laura M Cha said in the statement: “We warmly welcome the appointment of Mrs Susan Chow to our Board of Directors. Her strong background in business and in legal services will be immensely valuable to the Board and to HKEX’s future development.”
Once the 2020 AGM has ended, and the new appointments assume their roles, HKEX’s Board will have 13 directors. From this, six have been elected by shareholders, six have been appointed by the government, and the final is the CEO of the exchange, who is an ex-officio member.
Susan Chow’s career history 
Susan Chow, in addition to her appointment to HKEX, is also a non-executive director at CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, which she joined in 2017. She is also the trustee-manager of HK Electric Investments, an alternate director for CK Infrastructure Holdings Limited and a non-executive director of Hutchison Telecommunications (Australia) Limited, which is listed on the (ASX).
During her career, Chow was a senior advisor for CK Hutchison Holdings Limited, and executive director and group deputy managing director from 2015 until 2016. She was also a director of Hutchison Whampoa Limited.
Chow holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom. She has also been a Solicitor in Hong Kong, England and Wales.
