GMO-Z.com Trade UK, the British subsidiary of Japanese retail broker , announced on Thursday that it has appointed Wei Xu as its head of operations.
“We are delighted to welcome Wei to our team,” said GMO-Z CEO Masahiro Funada.
“Wei’s strong operational experience within the institutional space will enable us to firmly establish the foundations of our business and offer a high-quality experience to our new audience.”
Wei joins the London-based broker from Stater Global Markets, a prime of prime broker earlier this year.
The new GMO-Z executive had been with Stater for close to three years, having joined the firm back in August of 2016 as an operations manager. He spent his last seven months at the company as head of operations.
Not alone
Wei is not the only ex-Stater executive to have moved to GMO-Z. Last month, the broker announced that Ramy Soliman, who had been CEO of the prime of prime broker, had as chief strategy officer.
Aside from Stater, Wei has also had stints at Integral – where he was a technical account manager – and liquidity manger Gold-i. At the latter firm, Wei worked as a technical support engineer before becoming head of support.
“I am delighted to be joining an already strong team,” said Wei. “GMO-Z has a strong backing from its well-capitalised parent company, and all of the key elements to be a major player in the institutional space.
“The company is looking to implement a best-in-class technology and liquidity offering, and I am looking forward to utilising my experience to help the company grow.”
