Visible Alpha, , announced on Monday that it has appointed Mark Hale to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new position, Hale will lead the firm’s engineering, product, content management, operations, and technology teams.
Hale joins Visible Alpha as it is gaining buy-side demand for its investment research technology and services. Earlier this year, that HSBC became an official investor in the firm, joining the ranks of the company’s official investors.
In his new role as COO, Hale will lead more than 450 professionals at the company. According to the statement from Visible Alpha, one of his aims is to accelerate new product delivery. Hale will also be responsible for streamlining the onboarding process for new team members. Furthermore, he will be responsible for improving the operation procedures for contributors.

Hale’s new position at Visible Alpha ends his impressively long 22 and a half year tenure at , a creator of open data and software solutions. His most recent position at the company was executive vice president and COO.
As the COO, Hale led global teams in product management, technology, infrastructure and IT. During his time at the company, he also held a suite of other roles. This includes senior vice president of content operations and vice president and director of database engineering. Back in 1995, Hale originally started off at the company as a Software Engineer.

Prior to joining FactSet, Hale attended Carnegie Mellon, a university in Pittsburgh, America. He studied at the institution from 1991 until 1995. Here he achieved a Bachelor of Science, and his field of study was electrical and computer engineering.
