Foreign exchange and CFDs trading affiliate Investoo Group announced in a statement today that it has hired James McCarthy as General Counsel. In this role, McCarthy will provide strategic and risk-sensitive legal advice to the firm.
As General Counsel at , McCarthy will help the firm formalise its internal governance policies. He will also ensure the company is compliant with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
McCarthy’s most recent role before was Senior Counsel at Aztec Group, a fund and corporate services provider. At the firm, he was the most senior lawyer and head of the legal team, which advised a business of approximately 750 staff.
Here, McCarthy also advised senior management on a range of legal issues such as regulation and compliance relating to contract negotiations, corporate governance matters, GDPR and much more.
Throughout his career, McCarthy has also been a Solicitor at Latham & Watkins, an Associate and before that, a Trainee Solicitor, at Taylor Wessing.

At the firm, McCarthy said one of his main goals is to add value to the business by having a deep understanding of the Investoo Group’s business model. He believes this will allow him to really contribute towards the company, he said in the statement.

McCarthy is the latest addition to , which has made two other key hires during August. This month, the firm appointed James Beale as Chief Finance Officer and Jamie Beadle joined the company as the Chief Operating Officer.
