The (NYSE) announced today that Betty Liu has been appointed as the company’s Executive Vice Chairman. The former host will take up the position following the acquisition, by the NYSE, of her start-up firm Radiate.
Liu founded Radiate, an educational media company, just two years ago. The firm generates content aimed at entrepreneurs and people in managerial positions. Much of this content is produced in conjunction with company CEOs.
Since its founding, Radiate has managed to produce 2000 hours worth of short-length educational videos. This backlog of work will now belong to the NYSE who will add it to their collection of content.
Acquisition nearing completion
The acquisition of Radiate will be completed this month. Today’s announcement did not reveal how much the exchange had paid for the start-up, but it did note that the acquisition would not affect this year’s financial performance.
Liu’s new role with the NYSE will see her applying her media skills to grow the companies’ leadership network. Today’s statement specified that she would be doing this by working on live events and creating other networking opportunities for the various companies that are listed on the NYSE.
Liu commented on today’s announcement, saying: “I can’t wait to build upon a platform where C-suite leaders and entrepreneurs exchange ideas, innovate and connect. As a journalist, I reported on some of the greatest business stories of our generation. I look forward to leveraging both experiences to help great companies tell their stories and connect to customers and stakeholders alike.”
