Investopedia Hires James Chen to Role of Director, Trading & Investing

Investopedia has hired analyst James Chen to take on the role of ‘Director, Trading & Investing’.

Investopedia is a Wikipedia-like site which focuses on finance and economy-related subjects. It has been operational since 1999 and its headquarters are in New York. It was sold to Forbes Media in 2007, and then to a company called ValueClick in 2010 for $42 million. It was then sold to IAC/InterActive Corp in 2013 for $80 million.

Chen is based in New York and has worked in the foreign exchange sphere since the year 2000, according to information made public on his LinkedIn profile. He has been published, interviewed and/or quoted by Bloomberg TV, Reuters News, Forbes, International Business Times and International Herald Tribune.

He has also published two books – “Essentials of Foreign Exchange Trading” and “Essentials of Technical Analysis for Financial Markets”, both published by John Wiley & Sons.

Before joining Investopedia, he worked for two years as the head of research at Forex.com, which is a foreign exchange broker based in New Jersey. Forex.com is the biggest retail foreign exchange website of broker GAIN Capital.

For the three years preceding that job, Chen worked at another GAIN Capital subsidiary, City Index, which is a London-based rival company that GAIN Capital bought for $118 million in Octoberer 2014. At City Index Chen worked as Chief Technical Market Strategist.

Prior to that he worked as the Director of Research and Education at FXDD, which is an introducing broker. He spent 5 years working as the Chief Technical Market Strategist at a company called FX Solutions, which is another New Jersey-based foreign exchange broker.

Chen has a degree in psychology from Tufts University.
