Digital wallets and mobile payments operator Skrill has announced a new sponsorship deal with Italian e-sports team, QLASH. The deal helps Skrill permeate one of the fastest growing segments globally, with access to one of the most dynamic payments demographics.
Sponsorship deals have been commonplace heading into 2018. While this normally entails retail venues looking for greater exposure in the sporting arena, the decision by Skrill to target the e-sports space represents a different move entirely. However, given the huge growth the industry has seen in recent years, the move could ultimately see others follow, given such a high potential for growth.
Founded just last year, QLASH represents a cohesive effort by professional poker players and entrepreneurs Luca Pagano and Eugene Katchalov. The team is one of the fastest growing e-sports groups in Europe as well as one of the top ones in Italy. QLASH is best known for currently competing in one of the big three e-sports, i.e. Clash Royale, Hearthstone and Starcraft II.
Lorenzo Pellegrino, CEO of Paysafe’s Digital Wallets Division, commented: “This partnership with QLASH allows us to offer exclusive gaming moments to the e-sports community. Fans and gamers around the world can look forward to a packed schedule of exclusive offers and experiences including the opportunity to meet pro players in person.”
Per the latest details surrounding the sponsorship deal, Skrill’s branding and advertising will be featured on QLASH’s team channel and across all pro-player jersey, and VIP experiences at live events, including live streams on Twitch.tv.
“Skrill puts gamers and their needs at the heart of its efforts, and this sponsorship partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to engage the e-sports community and provide relevant and valuable experiences,” he explained.
Moreover: “This partnership marks a very important milestone for our team, by allowing us to work side by side with a company that truly believes in the future of e-sports, and in the future of QLASH. The es-ports market has a huge untapped potential, globally, noted Luca Pagano, CEO of QLASH.
