Fortex, a major electronic communication network (ECN), has announced a new partnership with Commercial Network Services (CNS). The companies have teamed up to launch a new connectivity upgrade within the Equinix NY4 datacenter.
An optical fiber cross connect is now linking the infrastructure of the companies, thus optimizing connectivity for algorithmic trading. Users of high-frequency trading (HFT) strategies that demand ultra-low levels of latency will get better access to the FX market.
At a time when a lot of scrutiny is focused on the HFT industry in stocks, a number of traders have switched to the decentralized foreign exchange market. The partnership between the companies was driven by the increased demand in this area.
Commenting on the news, the Global Head of Sales at Fortex, Natallia Hunik, said: “With the addition of the new cross connect to CNS Networks, our customers have the ability to further improve their connectivity to the best interbank connectivity providers and liquidity sources in the marketplace.”
The VPS (Virtual Private Server) service delivered to clients thanks to the partnership is particularly useful to traders whose accounts are with Fortex’s broker clients. Traders that are using a VPS typically use mainly algos for their execution. The service is also very popular in locations where connectivity is poor and traders typically experience higher latency, namely in the Southeast Asian region.
European traders can get the fastest possible access via the CNS UK setup located at Equinix LD5. A private line to NY4 is readily available.
Traders will need to make a separate purchase of the VPS in order to use the service with various plans suited to different needs.
“This new and highly redundant circuit is available to all CNS VPS, VPN and Internet access subscribers automatically and without any additional charge. If you are trading with a Fortex broker from the CNS network, then you are already enjoying premium access to the Fortex network,” commented Barry Bahrami, CEO of Commercial Network Services.
