Societe Generale veteran Eric Bayle has been promoted to a new senior role, becoming the Head of Global Transaction Banking in the UK, following a successful tenure with the group lasting over sixteen years, Finance Magnates has learned.
Mr. Bayle begins in his new role with immediate effect. He will remain in London, where he has worked for the last seven years. Mr. Bayle’s main responsibilities will be to help foster and develop Societe Generale’s transaction banking services domestically, whilst offering non-banking financial institutions and corporations a multitude of banking services.
Veteran Promotion
Overall, his mandate will also be to help optimize and manage Societe Generale’s daily financial transactions and commercial operations, emphasizing services such as cash management and payment services, trade finance, and factoring. From 2010, he served as the Head of Payments and Cash Management in the UK, an integral role for its UK operations.
Previously, he worked as a Senior Cash Management Sales Manager and Relationship Manager with the lender, part of a career extending back to 2001. Additional stints also include stops at Mizuho Bank and Bank of America, dating back to 1994, according to information made public on his Linkedin profile.
Societe Generale has also made another appointment, tapping Merel Josseaud as its Head of Trade Finance in the UK. She will be reporting to Mr. Bayle and will be tasked with augmenting Societe Generale’s trade and import/export finance offering for clients based in the UK and Scandinavia.
According to Benoît Desserre, Global Head of Global Transaction Banking, in a statement on the appointment: “The UK represents an important location in our global network. With Eric’s leadership, our aim is to further expand our local client base by combining experience, know-how and innovative capabilities with our international expertise as a major banking group.”
