Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) has announced that in order to encourage stable, long-term investing in the stock market and expand the business scope of securities firms, it has devised the ‘Rules Governing Periodic Payment Plans Entrusted to Securities Firms’.
Periodic Payments
The rules were approved by the Financial Supervisory Commission and released to the securities firms on 23 December, 2016.
Starting 16 January, 2017, investors may contact securities firms administering such payment plans and proceed to make periodic subscriptions of stocks and ETFs.
The TWSE has held information sessions across Taiwan explaining the rules of periodic payment plans to representatives from securities firms.
Benefits
The goal of the additional service is to help investors across Taiwan get a better understanding of the practical aspects of period payment plans while enhancing their financial planning by way of making smaller payments over the term of the contract, thus reducing investment risk. Securities firms also benefit by being able to expand their product lines and services, resulting in synergy in the overall capital market for all participants.
