Sir Richard Branson, a warm advocate of Bitcoin and disruptive technologies, will be hosting a on his private island in the British Virgin Islands.
Necker island is owned entirely by Branson and is part of the Virgin Limited Edition portfolio of luxury properties. According to its website, the island functions as a resort and can officially accommodate up to 28 guests.
The summit will include “a set of intimate discussions highlighting critical issues and solutions and to lay out the framework for a world where humankind is fully benefiting from the amazing technology behind the Blockchain.”
The event will take place during May 25 to 28. It is being co-hosted by BitFury CEO Valery Vavilov. According to the invite, it will host “30 luminaries in the world of Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin to help define the future.” Notable attendees include: George Kikvadze, Managing Director of GCF, a $6 billion private equity partnership; BitGo co-founder Will O’Brien; angel investor and Bitcoin Foundation Board Chairman Brock Pierce; Digital Currency Group founder Barry Silbert; Young Sohn, President and Chief Strategy Officer Samsung Electronics; and Terrance Philips, Managing Director at Citi Private Bank.
The event is also noteworthy given the noticeable decline in the frequency of Bitcoin-related conferences and other events in 2015. Digital currency-related discussions have instead been increasingly popping up at mainstream events such as Web Summit and the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
