US research firm Custora has reported February 2014 recorded a 10% increase in Ecommerce sales than February 2013.
According to Custora’s report Ecommerce did exceptionally well compared to physical retail stores with only a 1.5% increase in sales when compared to performance in February 2013. Not only was overall revenue up by 10% but transactions were also up by 12%.
Average-Order-Value (AOV) was also up, with a 1% increase. The increase while not high, shows a healthy sustaining Ecommerce environment that did not become reward and discount driven as was expected.
As expected, and seen in previous reports, mobile based purchases are constantly increasing. When looking at the performance from February 2013 Mcommerce based transactions grew by 45%. This means mobile based purchases grew from 14% to 19.5% of the total amount of purchases made.
When breaking down the numbers, as expected tablets performed slightly better than smartphone with 10.5% compared to 9% respectively.
